The formulation:

In an elementary logical consequence, there may be no substantive inferential gap to fill because the conclusion is already contained in, or follows directly from, the statement.

For example:

Slavery was abolished.

Therefore:

People legally classified as slaves were no longer legally slaves.

You don't really need to “read between the lines.”

The second proposition is essentially contained in the meaning of the first.
