Creative hypothesis versus negative hypothesis

A creative hypothesis is not a hypothesis that comes from literally nowhere.

Every meaningful hypothesis must have some basis in:

observations,

existing knowledge,

prior research,

theory,

experience,

or a perceived problem.

"Creative" simply means that the researcher makes a new or unconventional connection among those materials.
