If another scholar already made the same argument

There are two situations:

Situation A

You independently arrive at a logical conclusion.

You do not need to cite someone merely because they happened to think similarly.

Situation B

You know a scholar already developed the same argument.

Then acknowledging that scholarship is normally appropriate.

Reviewers do not expect every sentence to be cited.
