There is a fundamental difference between criticizig an ideology, policy, or political movement and condemning an entire religious community.

Statements that portray Muslims collectively as “seditionists,” claim their presence is intended to “destroy” America, or call for the deportation of people simply because they are Muslim are not a serious discussion about national security—they are sweeping attacks on millions of people based on their faith.

America’s strength comes from constitutional protections for religious freedom and equal treatment under the law. We can debate immigration, terrorism, national security, and religious extremism without demonizing an entire faith.

If we believe in American values, those values must apply even when we disagree with someone’s religion.
