Suppose historians establish:
- A ruled first.
- Then B.
- Then C.
- Then D.
History can document that sequence.
But history does not contain a built-in rule saying:
"Always return to A."
or
"Always respect D."
Those are normative or legal principles adopted by societies or legal systems.
