"Not in the scholarly sense"

AI does not perform a comprehensive literature review in the scholarly sense.

I mean something very specific.

A historian writing a journal article may spend months:

searching multiple databases,

reading dozens or hundreds of publications,

examining archives,

checking citations,

identifying debates,

ensuring no major work has been overlooked.

AI cannot honestly claim to have completed that kind of exhaustive process merely because AI can retrieve and synthesize information.
