This is a fundamental question in historical scholarship.

Reviewers do not require every interpretation to have been made previously.

Otherwise no original scholarship could exist.

What they require is that your interpretation be:

grounded in reliable evidence,

logically argued,

consistent with the evidence,

engaged with relevant existing scholarship.

Originality is expected. Unsupported originality is not.
