Structural compatibility

This is an important concept.

Suppose:

Institution A

= legally free labor.

Institution B

= industrial capitalism.

They fit together.

Why?

Factories benefit from workers who can:

• move,
• sign contracts,
• change employers.

That is structural compatibility.

It says nothing about anyone's intentions.

It simply says the two systems function well together.
