Historical process

A historical process means:

a sequence of changes and developments occurring over time.

The historical process might be:

slavery and emancipation and legally free labor and Reconstruction and changing labor relations and development of post-emancipation social and economic structures.

You are studying how one historical condition changed into another, rather than looking at one isolated event.

Historical world

“Historical world” simply means:

the actual people, institutions, events, laws, economic conditions, and social relationships that existed in the past.

For example:

the Thirteenth Amendment;

plantation records;

freedpeople's testimony;

land ownership;

labor contracts;

court decisions.

Those are evidence from the historical world.
