What is “positive law”?

Positive law means:

law that has been formally enacted, recognized, or established by a legal authority.

For example:

constitutional provisions;

statutes;

enacted regulations;

judicially recognized legal rules.

It does not mean “positive” as in “good.”

And yes, there are terms such as:

positive law is formally established law;

natural law is law or principles understood as deriving from nature, reason, morality, or inherent rights.

“Negative law” is not simply the opposite of positive law in this terminology.

So don't interpret:

positive law

as:

good law.
