Cross-fertilization is a symptom

Addiction is born out of activity that has taken on a life of its own, not making addict great in fulfilling it but bad in not doing so.

It is a symptom not a cure

·        Cross-fertilization between mass and minority art is assumed to be the cure of plight; this mass-minority split is as a matter of a fact is its symptom.

Inherent limitation militate against transmutation   

         

·       Inherent limitations render an endeavor an impossible enterprise. No literary giant can transmute art into high art without altering its fundamental nature; however, he can end up with a great trash.
