The
#ideal #vision of #Socrates and #Plato#
·
The vision of Socrates and of Plato of kings becoming philosophers
or philosophers becoming kings is only a pattern in heaven because king has to
manage the relation of state with other states and with its own people. King
has to rule with pragmatic approach and his role is more or less of
facilitator. One needs not be philosopher to be a king but philosopher can be a
king and definitely a better king (better than non-philosopher king) if he can
relate his philosophy to the concern of people and philosopher ensconced in ivory
tower definitely cannot be a king and king ceases to be a king if he becomes
such a philosopher.
