Creative writing: Write about your shadow: how does it change when you move? What does it look like in different kinds of light? In different situations? What would happen if you lost it? Does it have a secret life?
Shadow
·        My shadow walks as I walk; it informs me of my movement, it moves up and down with me when sun is on my right or on my left side; it grows slow when I get slow, still when I stop and swift when I become brisk. Shadow does not make me feel loneliness; it is my companion, a constant reminder that I am not alone.
Shadow is not friend in need, therefore, not friend indeed. Shadow, however, is ‘a banker who lends you his umbrella when it is sunny and wants it back when it rains’; shadow leaves you in darkness, it is not with you when you need it most.
Shadow is not always soothing companion that reassures you. One can be confronted all of sudden by certain shadowy figure which looks horrible as long as one does not realize that it is the frightening reflection of oneself.
Shadow is a mirror; it is, though, blurred reflection of oneself; one does not need to go to it to see oneself (as one goes to mirror); one is thrilled to see in shadow development of muscle, a lady the growing length of hair, a model new hairstyle.
Shadow is really painful when one gets minus of something. Shadow is constant reminder to soldier that he is minus leg; to a well-built man that he is growing weaker and weaker as he is aging.
It is interesting to think life without shadow, if it happens with everyone so some people may feel the absence of companion; but if it happens with me only so I may feel uncomfortably awkward to be not with something everyone has.

I feel my life without shadow will really be in a great trouble. Man without shadow can be seen or feared as ghost or some supernatural thing. Life minus shadow will be devastating, it will ruin my cultural and social life; perhaps some may try to hunt me down in an attempt to cleanse the world of evil spirit. May people think of shadow as something that has a secret life; well it depends how one defines shadow. Shadow that exists in its own right has the life of its own; and it is some supernatural thing; otherwise shadow is no more than the reflection of oneself.
