Ignorance is blessing
Ignorance is blessing and work is affront to dignity of human.
I owe everything to disowning this vision.
I have got used to being plagued by hunters. Any one, having seen what I am, goes quickly on the hunt to discover how I am. Hunts start with invariable question: ‘How did you succeed to excel’ I smile and take pause for relishing implied tribute: question itself is a testimony to my achievements in diverse fields. And then say: ‘reasons lie not within me’. Inevitably, this answer leads to ‘what does it mean!’ as a matter of fact questioned boy owes everything to what it means.
Bad habits die hard if one has acquired it as a second nature. It happens if one is with it for so long because of either no frowning influence or ineffectiveness of it.  My mother had assertive presence in home and no difficulty was difficulty as stick followed in no time when carrot failed. She was determined to see me as an extension of her but wished me to be a paradox: same but different, just like the improved version of a book that maintains sameness intact while managing to be different. I was determined to master the art of wriggling out of everything that had the potential of disrupting my precious languor. But it soon occurred to me that coaxing for weaning me off and browbeating as its alternative was too good for any ducking and I needed to have philosophical underpinnings for my ‘do-not-want to do syndrome’ and I found in one’s great man saying: ‘the more I read, the more I become aware of my ignorance’ a proof that reading belittles one; therefore one should keep heavy tomes at bay if he does not want to be aware of his ignorance; cerebral work is dangerous as it exposes one to the depth of his ignorance and physical work is affront to human being; after all man is not the beast of burden.
Minus rationale, no attitude can last for long, and when one has it as the defense, something in addition to cajoling and arm twisting is needed to beat it; otherwise the doses of persuasion and packing punches grow less and less effective as intended target learns how to absorb them. I started to become the poor shadow of her, let alone the one who seemed destined to be improved version.
Here came the vision of her life: life offers 24 hours to everyone; and everyone has the democracy of consumption; but it is the difference in the way one capitalizes on them and that makes difference and this difference makes one different from millions others; who die everyday even before they existed. Life is worth for living not for passing; discovering ignorance is the way to overcome it, and one degenerates into a parasite on society when he escapes from physical exertion.
The rationale of mine was too poor to withstand this vision; the vision that reinvented me and, then continued onward to resonate with my life, thus becoming the rasion d’etre of my new self. This version never abandoned me and that accounted for my success to thwart the revisit of old habit that proverbially die hard and maintain and cement the metamorphosis that enabled me to garner that many distinctions in and off study that many times that question ‘how you achieved all that’ appears to look itself threadbare. Hunters should go for the new; let’s try this:’ what on earth are you going to do now!’ the answer is: sky is the limit.
